How to Get Hired

We asked Expedia, Inc. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We are always looking for passionate, collaborative and analytical people who love solving problems, who are creative and are not afraid to bring new ideas to the table.

Our ideal employees are open-minded, curious, agile, self-sufficient, unflappable and humble. We also place a premium on transparency and humility, and encourage open and honest communications at all levels.

Further, a collaborative environment is critical to our success. Therefore, we want people who are not only watching out for their own progress, but who are also interested in and supportive of others’ success

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We believe in being different. We seek new ideas, different ways of thinking, diverse backgrounds and approaches! Because averages can lie and sameness is dangerous. Because of this belief, we seek employees who are not afraid to take risks, think beyond boundaries and who are capable of seeing what others cannot see.

All in all, we want prospective employees to show us how they stand out and why they are different.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

Expedia’s mission is to revolutionize travel through the power of technology. So we are always looking for creative software engineers to continue to innovate and grow our platforms and to make travel easier for millions of people who want to explore the world.

We are also looking to expand our Global Market Management team, which is responsible for leading our partners’ and suppliers’ experience, as we are continually growing our supplier base in order to offer our customers the most comprehensive travel options.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

We have a dedicated website, http://www.lifeatexpedia.com, for prospective employees. The site’s intention is to highlight Expedia, Inc.’s workplace culture in a visual way. It gives our employees and the company a persona, humanizing them through videos of them sharing their travel stories. It also features a number of our recruitment initiatives, background on our family of brands, and a list of current opportunities, along with next steps on how to apply for a position at Expedia, Inc.
