Perks and Programs

We asked Epic Games, Inc. to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Epic Friday: One Friday each month Epic employees are encouraged to work on something they’re passionate about outside of their day to day work. They then have the opportunity to present their work at company meetings.  These projects often times result in current product improvements in our games or Unreal Engine.
  • 100% Employer Paid Benefits: Epic pays for 100% of benefit premiums, with $0 out of pocket expense, for all employees, same and opposite sex domestic partners and spouses + dependents starting on the first day of employment. Employees are enrolled in Medical, Dental, LTD, AD&D and Life insurance on day one.
  • Freedom for Fun: Making games should be fun. Employees take scooters to meetings, climb the rock wall, cruise down the two-story slide & workout at the gym throughout the day. Our flexible hours allow employees to come and go as they please and whether they’re wearing jeans or unicorn slippers, they never seem out of place. You’ll often find them flying drones in the courtyard, playing D&D in the arena or watching the World Cup on the big screen.
  • Company “MOM": For the past 17 years Epic has provided employees with an on-site Mom. With the goal of helping our employees from all over the world, she cultivates morale, plans 8 company paid events for over 500 employees and their families, and coordinates distributing free company swag throughout the year. She knows everyone by name and makes sure that no matter what part of the world you’re from you feel at home at Epic.
  • Unlimited Time Off: Epic provides unlimited sick and vacation time for all US full and part time employees. The company understands the need for work/life balance and flexibility, so we ensure our time off policies encourage employees to take care of themselves, relax, and recharge.
  • Fully Paid Family Leave: Epic provides up to 12 weeks of paid time off for the birth or adoption of a child. Additionally, Epic provides 2 weeks of paid paternity leave.
  • Fully Paid Sabbaticals: When you reach seven years of service with Epic, you deserve a creative reboot. Epic employees are awarded with a paid four week sabbatical where you're expected to relax, recharge and rest while we continue to pay your salary, benefits and contribute to your 401(k).
  • Tuition Reimbursement: We should never stop learning. That’s why Epic will reimburse employees up to $4,000 per year for classes, education or other tools to help support ongoing education.
  • Free Fully Stocked Kitchens: Hungry? Epic provides a fully stocked kitchen with everything to suit your mood from a healthy snack to something to soothe your sweet tooth. Breakfast, lunch & dinner are available at no cost to the employees!
  • Employee’s Contributions Impact Millions Daily: Epic’s award winning Unreal Engine is free to everyone from indie to AAA developers. The work that is contributed by employees to Unreal Engine is immediately visible and available to millions all over the world.  Our employees see their ideas shaping the world of video game development.

      How to Get Hired

We asked Epic Games, Inc. for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Epic Games employees are smart, talented, and passionate. If you are those three things, and have relevant experience, you’re likely to be a great fit here. There isn’t one way to show that you have these attributes, as they can manifest themselves differently in every individual. Smart typically equates to the ability to solve complex problems as they relate to your field of expertise. Talented means you are at the top of your game. Passion means that there is something that gets you out of bed every morning and drives you to continue to innovate in your area of expertise. Successful employees at Epic demonstrate all three.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We love when people show us what they can do by building things. Epic is known for the Unreal Engine, a game engine technology that is available to everyone for free. We love when people show us their skills and passion by using that technology to create something. You can do almost anything with those tools and you’ll be using them every day here, so showing us how you can maximize their potential speaks loads to passion, motivation, and skill!

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are looking for talented folks for all of our teams, but most specifically our game, technology and publishing teams. Our game teams are always looking for talented programmers, artists, designers, and producers to help with the development of our games, including Paragon and Fortnite. Our technology teams are looking for engineers across multiple specialties, including rendering, tools, web, backend and systems, and data engineers. These individuals focus on developing and iterating on the Unreal Engine to allow us and our partners to bring creations to life, whether it’s games, visualizations, or beyond. The publishing teams are looking to grow our User Experience, Analytics, Marketing, and Creative Service practices to ensure we are operating our games to their maximum potential.
