  • Average annual training for part-time hourly employees: 10 hours
  • Average annual training for full-time salaried employees: 30 hours
  • EnergyLogic calls their performance reviews "Bobs" to represent a friendly, two-way conversation one might have with an ordinary guy named Bob. These reviews are future-oriented to see where an employee wants to go next and how to get there. The organization is committed to promoting from within and even encourages employees to move into different areas of the company.
Every person in the company has a special role. From the outset, I was shown where I fit in the company and also given an overview by all the major program managers. I was also already in the organizational chart on the first day of employment. It felt great to know not only where I fit in, but also where and how my job would function as part of the entire company.

How to Get Hired

We asked EnergyLogic for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

There is no substitute for the quality of the people that work in a company. EnergyLogic has sought out people who share the vision and the passion of our organization. We have found that a resume is just a starting place. Our goal is being part of a team that strives to build a better home, whether we work with a builder or a buyer. Because of that, we seek people who can communicate, people who try to put themselves in a client's place. Each person who works for EnergyLogic brings something unique to our business. Beyond the technical skills an energy rater needs, we seek people who can provide examples from their life of the following characteristics: leadership, enthusiasm, emotional intelligence and compassion for others.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

For our field personnel, it is essential that they have completed rater training. Beyond that, for every new hire, we want to see a genuine enthusiasm for working for EnergyLogic and a commitment to sustainability. While every job, from office manager to new homes rater, requires a general computer knowledge and acumen, overall what we want to see is heartfelt desire to be a "logician!"

Are there any unusual or especially rigorous steps of your hiring process that candidates should be aware of?

Again, to be in the field, on the technical side of the house, every applicant must have completed, or be in the process of completing, rater training in order to be considered for an open position. For administrative personnel, each candidate should have basic computer, email, and smart phone skills and a great deal of enthusiasm, caring and humor! Also, you should like dogs and kids since they are in the office a lot!

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We are always on the lookout for certified raters and auditors with a passion for making the planet healthier. We will be seeking enthusiastic logistics personnel who excel at detail and customer service.
