Perks and Programs

We asked Edmunds to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • RESULTS ONLY WORK ENVIRONMENT -ROWE: Edmunds operates as a Results Oriented Work Environment (a ROWE). In a ROWE, employees work whenever they want, wherever they want and are focused on delivering results, not face time. Every employee is treated like an adult and allowed to make their own decisions about what they need to do to deliver those great results- all meetings are optional and team members have a remarkable level of flexibility and freedom. Year after year, ROWE is a top driver of employee satisfaction because it allows every team member to design and create their own work-life balance.
  • OUR EDQUARTERS AWARD-WINNING WORKSPACE: Edmunds’ award-winning headquarters features a pair of Corvettes suspended above the reception desk, a mural made out of 2500 Matchbox cars, a slide from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor for employees in a hurry, and two giant fish tanks. The office features amenities which including free breakfasts and lunches, an onsite frozen yogurt bar, popcorn machine and beer tap, a game room with interactive attractions for employees and their families, an outdoor wi-fi enabled courtyard, and a variety of casual environments that make it so our employees look forward to coming into the office. Nearby daycare, gym, and free bicycles provide additional features that make it easy to spend the day at the office.
  • TRIPCA$H- ANNUAL VACATION SUBSIDY: We heard feedback that employees felt they weren't able to fully disconnect, so Edmunds instituted TripCa$h! Team members receive a $500 annual subsidy for vacation adventures. The only requirements are that some of your time away falls on a day that you would have been otherwise working (i.e. a weekday) and that you submit a photo of yourself on the vacation. Employees have used TripCa$h to travel around the world with family and friends going as far as Tokyo, Morocco, Australia, Amsterdam, and Italy. They've sent back photos glacier climbing in Norway, petting tigers in Phuket, and touring Temples in Bali. Sharing the photos on the TripCa$h wall in our office brings us all closer together.
  • EXTENDED PARENTAL LEAVE POLICY: Edmunds is a family-oriented company and we show that support with a generous Parental Leave Policy. New moms receive six months parental leave with an additional one month ramping down period before they give birth and a one month ramping up period when they return to help them adjust to the changes in their lives. New dads receive two months off when their new baby is born. The policy applies equally to parents adopting a child, same sex couples, and alternative families. Combined with our ROWE environment, Edmunds is a great place to work for people who believe that family is an integral part of a happy life.
  • FUEL YOUR POTENTIAL - PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS: All employees participate in Fuel Your Potential, an ongoing program designed to provide personal and professional development opportunities. We also offer workshops, interactive sessions, and teach-backs so everyone has access to a regular schedule of development opportunities. Special events like our weeklong Edmunds Academy encourages employees to set aside work for a week and focus on growth. Our unique development programs have been featured in Forbes Magazine, ComputerWorld, and NBC News.
  • EDMUNDS RECOGNITION PROGRAMS: Recognition and Rewards are an integral part of the Edmunds community and we have many ways to say thank you. Each year at our All Company Meeting, three top performing employees are selected to receive the V12 Award and three top managers receive the Pave The Road Award. Edmunds also uses Bonusly, an online peer recognition program, where employees award bonuses between $1 and $500 to show gratitude. When a Bonusly award is given, it is accompanied by a sentence explaining why they’re being recognized and these remarks are public. For the past several years, all employees have also received an annual 5% discretionary cash bonus reflecting the positive growth and performance of the business.
  • HEARTCA$H: Edmunds supports our employees philanthropic efforts and the charities that are closest to their hearts by giving back. HeartCa$h is our donation matching program where we match employees donations up to $500 per year per employee.
  • FITCA$H AND WELLNESS: Edmunds is committed to encouraging healthy choices and provides support through a variety of wellness programs. FitCa$h is our subsidized gym membership program that reimburses employees membership costs. In addition, Edmunds supports employees’ participation in company wide physical challenges, and provides resources for employees to learn more about healthy eating, nutrition, and exercise. The company engages in regular walking challenges throughout the year and the competitive element drives company-wide participation. We also offer onsite yoga, meditation, qigong, massages and various specialty fitness sessions like cross fit.
  • THINKING THURSDAYS: Edmunds found that our employees were feeling like their schedules were jam packed with meetings, so we took the initiative to create our unique program called "Thinking Thursdays." Backed by our executive team, we encourage meeting-free Thursdays for employees to freely focus on their "head down" work. In addition, we host various learning offerings on Thinking Thursdays that range from work-related subjects to personal growth topics. Recent sessions include a performance nutritionist and an employee led discussion on how vehicle data makes it on our site.

How to Get Hired

We asked Edmunds for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

When interviewing candidates, we look for people who tangibly show they are collaborative, flexible, adaptable, have strong communication skills, and are self motivated. We even have a team called "Fit and Finish," who are part of the hiring process and screen candidates to make sure they will also fit into the Edmunds culture.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Prospective employees can stand out by highlighting the skills most relevant to the job they are applying for. For example, they should use a resume that is specific to the job they are applying for rather than a general one.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

In the upcoming year, we are most focused on hiring for our technology department.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

Interested candidates should visit our career site at www.edmunds.com/careers
