What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
We look for people who have the ability to lead in a fast-paced and performance-driven environment. Do they know their strengths? Do they value continuous learning, and are they willing to put in the time to develop themselves? Other skills and attributes we look for include the ability to think analytically to solve problems; the ability to build relationships based on trust; an understanding of market issues and trends; excellent communication and listening skills; and the ability to collaborate and work effectively on diverse teams.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
Network with our recruiters and professionals. There are multiple channels that candidates can use to make connections with us and learn about careers at Deloitte. Our Talent Scouts look for qualified candidates on 300 college campuses at both undergrad and graduate levels and hold events that offer connection points with us. The Careers page on our Web site offers information on Deloitte’s culture, open positions, stories about our professionals’ careers, and communities for veterans and women in technology fields. About 40% of our experienced hires come from referrals by our people. Social media are a great way to make connections and build relationships with Deloitte professionals. We have a presence on many social media channels – LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Employer review sites like Glassdoor help candidates understand what it’s like to work at Deloitte from people who are experiencing it firsthand.
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
All of our business segments are seeking professionals with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) backgrounds, with an emphasis on technology skills: In Consulting, we are seeking digital, cloud computing, data analytics and IT strategy and architecture technology professionals. In Tax, we are seeking tax accounting, investment management, private wealth management and international tax professionals at all levels. In Advisory, we are looking for a variety of backgrounds, including cybersecurity, business risk, technology risk, business valuation and modeling, and forensics. In Audit, we are looking to hire candidates with deep public accounting skills – undergraduate and graduate students, as well as experienced professionals in audit innovation and analytics. In Enabling Areas, we’re seeking people with professional skills in marketing, IT, human resources and sales. Additionally, we are building a community for people who want to work as freelancers and independent contractors instead of in a traditional full-time employee role.
