Perks and Programs

We asked Connectrac to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • PTO Bank: No one liked the fact that at the end of the year any hours over the allowed 40 PTO rollover hours, would be lost. So the CEO and HRD came up with the PTO Bank. The PTO Bank allows Team Members to set aside those hours that are at risk of being “lost” at the end of the year. The banked PTO hours can be accessed to take a special holiday or address personal needs. This plan enables Team members to accrue up to 4 weeks (160 hours) of “Banked” PTO by accumulating the "at risk" PTO hours at the end of any year, over many years. Banked PTO cannot be accrue for the purposes of financial pay-out, should a Team Member leave the company, but is available to be used for time off. The maximum length of time a Team Member can take off at any one time is 4 weeks.
  • Day of Service: As a company all employees are encouraged to participate in 2 opportunities to give back to the community. One opportunity is a day in which the entire company meets with other organizations and spends part of the day cleaning up the banks of the Trinity River which runs through the middle of downtown Dallas. The second opportunity, each individual employee is encouraged to volunteer one day per year for any charitable organization that they chose. All the company asks is that, if allowed by the charitable organization, the employee takes a photo of themselves working, so that it can be shared with the other team members.
  • Annual Holiday Party: Every December, Connectrac sets aside an evening for employees and their significant others to enjoy an evening of food, drinks and fun. All remote employees are brought into town with their spouses, at the company's expense, to celebrate the season and success of the company, together.
  • Annual Festivus Celebration: Yes.... we've taken the made up fake, Seinfeld-ian holiday and turned it in to an annual Connectrac celebration. To honor the tenants of the holiday, we construct a "Festivus Tree",which is actually a piece of the wire-way that we produce, and all employees write down their grievances on sticky notes and attachment to the tree. For lunch we share the traditional Spaghetti and Meat Ball meal during which all of the grievances are plucked from the tree and read aloud as we have the "Airing of Grievances" to all Team Members. After lunch and grievances, the highlight of the event occurs, the display of "Feats of Strength", in which each Team Members goes against each in an always heated battle of "Rock'em Sock'em". The last one to win is the Festivus King/Queen for the next year.
  • Quarterly Luncheon and Company Update: After each quarter, the entire company has a catered meal together and the CEO updates all Team Members on the progress from the last quarter.
  • Employees in Need: Over the years, it has become apparent that Team Members need additional help. All company leaders know that if a Team Member has a special need, they can bring the issue to the HRD to be addressed, if at all possible. Past employee needs addressed: Assistance with being finances for a Team Member to afford legal consultation for personal business, letting team members barrow significant PTO hours to take time away from work to address important personal matters, advancing year-end anticipated bonuses to address an urgent financial need, creating "off-hours" 1099 work opportunities for Team Members to earn additional money, to allowing employees to bring their young children to work when unexpected baby-sitter issues arise.
  • Annual Bonus: Connectrac has historically been able to provide an Annual Bonus to all Team Members at the beginning of each December based on company profitability.. The hope is, of course, that as the company continues to grow the bonuses will continue and increase, with the growth.
  • Misc. Unannounced Celebrations: The HRD will surprise the Team Members through-out the year with unannounced celebrations. The celebrations could be a popcorn afternoon in celebration of the opening of the Texas State Fair, a macron snack in honor of National Macron Day or Root Beer Floats for National Root Beer Float day, but always to be celebrated, National Wine Day and National Beer Day. Oh and let's not forget "Talk Like a Pirate Day", in which everyone was given new Pirate names for the day and encouraged to say aaarrrggghhh, a lot.
  • Free Flu Shot Clinic: Every autumn Connectrac brings in a medical provide to administer free of cost Flu and B12 shots to any and all Team Members that may want to participate.
