How to Get Hired

We asked Concho Resources for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

At Concho we look for adaptability, critical thinking skills, sense of ownership/accountability, integrity, organizational fit, and humility. We use a behavior-based interviewing technique to ensure our applicants align with Concho's core values. This interview technique helps us to gauge how a candidate will act in a given situation and has the potential to tell us one of two things: first, that they possess the knowledge and skills for the position. Second, it can show that they hold values and beliefs that are consistent with Concho's culture. We believe our employees are our greatest assets, therefore hiring the right fit for Concho is a top priority.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We look for candidates who are honest and genuine in an interview setting and who demonstrate that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position to which they have applied in both their resume and interview. The ability to articulate thoughts and opinions is crucial. We also look for candidates who have done their part to learn about Concho, whether it be through our company website, social media outlets, or through engagement with current and former employees.
