Perks and Programs

We asked Thread to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Unlimited snacks and drinks: Thread provides a great selection of snacks and drinks (including coffees, teas, sodas) for all employees. We also have a couple flavors of beer on tap for company happy hours that we have occasionally.
  • Great wellness program: The company provides a new Fitbit to all employees on their hire date. We also have an annual vitality check done by a nurse for checking cholesterol, glucose, height to weight ratio and blood pressure. Those that participate in the vitality check get to share in the discount offered by the insurance company. We also have ongoing Fitbit challenges that break the company into teams and we take turns designing the challenge and awards. In the past year, we have collectively reached at least Silver Status in our health care program, with several of us reaching Gold and Platinum for our healthy habits. Those who go above and beyond with their health initiatives earn extra rewards on top of those mentioned above. Additionally, we have a gym onsite and provide employees access to the gym paid for by the company.
  • Treadmill Desk and Sit/Stand Desks: We have a walking treadmill desk setup that employees can use to allow them to work and walk and add steps for the ongoing Fitbit challenges. We also have begun incorporating sit/stand desks so team members can adjust how they work according to their preferences, and we can promote a healthier way of working.
  • Fun company outings: We have different fun outings that are designed to bring people together outside of work. Some recent examples are TopGolf outing, in office nerf gun wars, annual holiday party and many others, cooking classes for team building, and we are planning a field trip to the sasquatch museum!
  • Birthday celebrations: We celebrate everyone's birthday in our great team lounge and have the employee's favorite dessert, card, funny music, and balloons. We believe in celebrating our team members on their special day!
  • Dress up days: We love to celebrate Halloween in the office by dressing up and we have occasional other dress-up days such as pajama day, favorite college/NFL team day, etc.
  • Catered lunch/breakfasts monthly: We cater a breakfast or lunch about once a month. We also cook for each other (i.e. Sales team comes and cooks for the Ops team).
  • Peer-to-Peer Recognition: We have incorporated a couple of ways for team members to recognize each other for great work. One of those ways is via giving High Fives in our feedback platform, 15Five. These are notes to one another that are displayed publically in our office's platform for everyone to see. Another program we've initiated in our company is Thread Mail, where we provide cards for team members to hand write notes to each other, and they can add small gift cards to them for something extra sweet!
  • Awards Ceremony: Starting this year, we have introduced The Threadies, which are awards we pass out to the team members at our annual year-end party. Threadies are presented with trophies, gift cards, and a fun speech explaining each winner's accomplishments, filled with silly inside jokes we have with each other.
