  • Fun at Work: Making better Monday’s is the goal of our employee driven global Fun At Work program. We want our employees to be excited to come to work and to participate in onsite activities with their colleagues. With national events like Office Olympics and Star Wars Day (Ceridian’s unofficial holiday) to local events such as BBQs, tailgate parties, ice cream socials, and team sports such as soccer and Tough Mudder, our employees have opportunities to frequently interact with one another in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Every office at Ceridian, including Virtual Employees, participate in activities and we have allocated a budget of approximately $125/person.
  • Remembering Dave MacKay: In 2016 Ceridian lost its beloved President Dave MacKay. Dave believed that a company’s success begins with the employee experience. To honor his memory Ceridian created: The Dave MacKay Employee Achievement Award – which recognizes the achievements of a Ceridian employee over the past year. The award recipient exemplifies: Community Involvement, People First, and Humility. Ceridian employees nominate colleagues and we reward one with a trip for two valued at up to $10,000 USD. The Dave MacKay Dependent Scholarship Award - offers employees the opportunity to offset the cost of higher education for their children. Recipients receive $10,000 and two awards are granted each year. Dave MacKay Volunteer Day - employees receive a day off with pay to support the charity of their choosing.
  • Ceridian Cares: Ceridian recognizes the value of social responsibility. In 2016 we established Ceridian Cares in the US - our own employee driven charity that makes a difference by supporting people and improving the communities in which we live and work. Ceridian Cares believes that people across the country should have access to the basics like food, clothing and shelter. Since 2013, Ceridian Cares (in Canada) has provided over $1.15 million in grants to individuals and families in our communities. In the US, Ceridian was recently awarded a Spotlight Award by the United Way of Metro Chicago for demonstrating excellence in community outreach through successfully incorporating best practices and new strategies in its effort to increase fundraising totals over previous years.
  • Workplace Flexibility: Ceridian wants to help employees achieve a balance between work and life. We offer a number of programs and benefits to help them do just that, including time off (i.e. 11 holidays a year, 120 PDO hours a year; a volunteer day, sick leave, family and medical leave, bereavement leave, Jury-witness leave, military training leave and personal leaves of absence.) In addition to these time away from work programs and policies, Ceridian also encourages employees to “Take 2”, a program that allows employees to take up to two hours to be with their families, attend events or to simply take care of personal business when necessary.
  • Diversity & Inclusion: YOUnity is Ceridian’s Diversity and Inclusion program, encouraging Employee Business Network groups based on similar interests. Most recently, we celebrated CeridianPRIDE with a webinar on ways to support someone who comes “out”. Ceridian Women’s Network is a program for the professional and personal development of Ceridian employees, focused on the interests of women. Each quarter, we host a themed global event. In 2016, we hosted the Ceridian Women’s Network Summit featuring keynote speaker Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code. Leadership for Women is a program supporting the professional development of Ceridian’s female leaders, connecting and inspiring women in leadership at Ceridian. It includes virtual workshops with guest speakers and an annual event where women leaders and our client organizations are invited to participate.
  • LifeWorks: LifeWorks supports our people’s well-being. The program encompasses Life, Work and Perks and unites Ceridian through communication, social recognition and rewards. Life - LifeWorks allows our people to browse articles and toolkits and access professional consultants who have the experience to support with a variety of work and life issues. Work – The LifeWorks platform includes a social recognition feature that connects the entire organization. It allows people to instantly recognize colleagues for doing a great job. Acting much in the same way that Facebook and other social platforms do, it allows others to comment on recognitions or re-recognize individuals. Perks – This aspect of the platform allows people to browse retailers on LifeWorks and follow the special links to earn up to 40% cashback on purchases.
  • New Grad Boot Camp: For university interns and recent graduates, Ceridian offers a New Grad Boot Camp. The four to six-week training program prepares larger groups of New Grad employees to address the needs of our business units within a short period of time. Participants are provided with the knowledge, skills, and hands on development so they can be deployed into our teams to deliver the best in HCM technology to our customers. Grads converge to begin ‘Boot Camp’ in one of three streams: Technical, Project or Business. Participants receive product, configuration, and skills training; day-in-the-life experiences; cross-department and home-department job shadowing opportunities with exposure to real-life scenarios; a variety of fun team-building and networking events; a departmental ‘buddy’ from their respective department, and a dedicated mentor.
  • US Parental Leave: In support of our family-first philosophy, Ceridian created an inclusive Parental Leave policy to support the caregiver whether they become a new parent by birth, adoption, or through foster care placement of a child. The revised policy provides Primary Caregivers with 100% of their base salary for up to a total of 14 consecutive weeks after the birth or adoption of a child. Secondary Caregivers receive 100% of their base salary for up to 2 consecutive weeks after the birth, adoption or foster care placement of a child. Ceridian’s Adoption Benefit reimburses a portion of the expenses incurred, paying 100% of all eligible expenses up to a maximum of $5,000 per child. Eligible expenses include legal and court fees, agency fees, transportation and medical fees.
  • Live Well. Work Well: Supporting employee health and fitness is key to our success. Employees at some offices have onsite gyms and can take advantage of healthy snacks and free food to help them achieve their lifestyle goals. Yoga and fitness classes are offered onsite for those who want a more structured program. Treadmill workstations have been installed so employees can schedule time to get walking. Many of our employees choose balance ball chairs, and standing desks are also an option for our employees. In our larger offices, we provide games rooms to tackle problems, network, or take a break. Ceridian employees can also take part in our fitness subsidy program that allows them to purchase fitness equipment and subsidize gym memberships.
  • Employee Rewards & Recognition: Our values run through our Rewards and Recognition programs, which include: • Lifeworks – the platform allows People to instantly recognize colleagues. Each quarter functional leaders review their leaderboards and send gift cards to the top 10 recognized people within their function. Employees are also eligible for quarterly awards ($500 check) based on demonstrating Our Way values. • Presidents Circle – awards top performers (nominated contributors from each functional area) with a trip for two for making work life better for customers and colleagues. • Our Way Value Awards – recognizes five employees each quarter for living our values. Selections are based on recognitions within the LifeWorks platform. Winners receive physical and cash awards. • Service awards – celebrate work anniversaries at 3, 5, 7, 10, & each incremental 5 years of employment.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We look for fun, intelligent, team players who believe in our values: customer focus, transparency, diligence, optimism and agility.  Customer Focus – We look for candidates who have proven experience empathizing with customer and truly care about delivering win/win solutions.  Transparency – We value candidates who communicate openly, are accountable and whose actions are driven by a high sense of integrity.  Diligence  - We look for candidates who have demonstrated past career success because they have planned and prepared to succeed. Optimism  - We value candidates who are confident in their ability to take on challenging projects and succeed.  This confidence does not come from arrogance, but rather preparation.  Agility – We look for candidates who have encouraged change in order to achieve success in the past.  Prospective new employees who tackle business problems at Ceridian energetically are great hires for our company.
