We asked Centro to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Life Cross-Training: Centro partners with the LifeXT program in Chicago which educates peeps on what is known about happiness from philosophy, neuroscience and psychology. It provides the tools to lead healthier, happier lives through the practice of core skills such as meditation, movement, inquiry and compassion.
  • Bucks to Get Buff: Centro provides Centrons with $500 Bucks to Get Buff reimbursement annually for items such as gym memberships, race fees or fitness equipment.
  • Centro Sabbatical: Centro provides a 3 week sabbatical every 4 years for Centrons. There is no regulation on how peeps use this time, but they must take the 3 weeks consecutively, and they encourage them to report back so that the company can celebrate and learn about whatever passion they decided to follow.
  • New Hire Orientation: Centro flies all new hires into Chicago each month for a 3 day new hire orientation which includes dinner with an executive, lots of education on Centro and the manifesto, and ends with a happy hour run by a different department each month with their own theme (ex: lazer tag, Centro cabin fever, winter olympics and the annual talent show).
  • Referral Bonus: Centro awards referral bonuses of $2,500 standard, and up to $6,000 for key roles. Centrons are eligible after only 90 days of the new hire being at Centro, and there is no limit on how many are awarded each year to an individual. The company believes that A-players refer A-players, and have found some of their best hires through the Centron networks.

We asked Centro for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

The key characteristics that ensure prospective employees will be a great fit at Centro are their dedication to personal growth as well as to the growth of colleagues and customers. At the individual level, a deep curiosity and a continuous thirst for learning is imperative, as well as a strong dedication to self-improvement. Centrons are also committed to colleagues and customers. We strive to provide raving fan service and are positive and collaborative in all of our interactions. We’re looking for prospective employees who want to be better versions of themselves, and who want to improve Centro and the digital industry as whole. 

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Prospective employees who grab our attention are high energy, passionate, and enthusiastic. It doesn’t matter if you’re applying for an account coordinator position or a vice president of strategy. We love candidates who have relentless idealism and are excited about what Centro is trying to accomplish. 

Are there any unusual or especially rigorous steps of your hiring process that candidates should be aware of?

Centro conducts an in-depth interview process to provide the opportunity for both the candidate and the company to evaluate and assess each other. We typically ask candidates to interview with a variety of people at Centro (senior, mid-level and junior employees) who may potentially work with the candidate. Though a rigorous process, we want every candidate, no matter the hiring decision, to walk away with a positive experience from the dialogue with Centro.  

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

Centro’s goals this year include reaching our revenue goals and externally selling a great software product. With those goals in mind, we are going to be searching for lots of engineers to create that great product, and we are going to be recruiting many sales people to help us with our revenue goals. But as a company full of high functioning teams, with each sales person, or with each engineer, you also get support functions that are critical in our success. Needless to say, we are estimating at least 120 new heads this year!

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

Interested candidates should start by reading The Centro Manifesto on our website. Centro’s manifesto is the core of who we are as an organization and as individuals. It’s very close to our hearts and is imperative in reaching our goals. Additionally, all of our open positions are posted online so candidates can get a sense of where they might fit best and may apply to the roles that peak their interest. Furthermore, candidates should check their networks. Centro touches many companies in the media and tech space and a connection helps greatly. Centro’s Talent and Development team is also available and eager to schedule conversations with any interested candidates who’d like to reach out directly!
