Perks and Programs

We asked Button to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Parental Support: Paid leave of 18 weeks (which increased in 2017 from 17 to 18 weeks) for ALL parents following the birth, adoption, or surrogate birth of a child (Non-consecutive allocation permitted); $1,000 "baby" cash to help offset the costs of your family's newest addition; Free Parenting / Childbirth Class; Free Breast Feeding Counseling with a Lactation Consultant; Private Lactation Facilities with hospital grade pumps and refrigeration; Free backup childcare when babysitter cancels; Free career counseling sessions to assist with transition back into workforce; Technical Support to facilitate remote working capabilities, if desired. Family is p0 at Button and we want our employees to take the time they need to enjoy time with their new addition.
  • Vacation Time & Money: Our employees have unlimited vacation, personal time and sick days. We also want everyone to escape the busy city and get away to the mountains, beach, whatever their vice may be with a $500 stipend (plus additional $500 for spouse/dependents) to encourage family travel.
  • Leading Healthy Lives: Our employees' health is important to us, so we provide a variety of options for vision, dental, and medical insurance with options available that are fully covered by Button. This year we also added on the option of One Medical, creating easy-access to doctor's appointments with the option to use their video medical support or even text support for recurring prescriptions, needs, etc. Additionally, our team has fully-paid access to Rise, a nutritional consulting app to assist in making healthy choices throughout their lives. This on-demand service gives our employees nutritional feedback and information (should they opt-in).
  • Professional Growth: Growing "Personally and Professionally" is one of our core values here at Button. We offer every employee an annual $750 professional development budget, allowing them to take classes at General Assembly, attend particular industry conferences, you name it. If it's something that will help them grow professionally, we're all for it. Additionally, we offer sessions with a professional coach specific to Button. This includes our quarterly interview training, sessions on working styles and how to best work with one another, our monthly Nourish speaker series bringing in experts and leaders across a variety of industries, and much more. Lastly, our work requires us to stay on top of the latest and greatest in the mobile space, so we encourage all employees to try new mobile services by giving them $100 every month. In return, we simply ask for some insights into their experience with the mobile app or site of their choosing!
  • Office Dining: We provide fully catered lunch Monday through Thursday, where employees can enjoy lunches on our rooftop provided by some of the best restaurants in the city. On Fridays, we all get to order exactly what we want from a selection of (2) restaurants picked for the day, expensing to the company Caviar account. For those who work through the evening, we provide them the option to order dinner to the office on us! And don't forget the fully-stocked snacks, cold brew coffee on tap, tea assortment, and other goodies around the office 24-7.
  • Quarterly Retreats: We know it's important to get out and connect as a team beyond the office walls, so on a quarterly basis we head off-site. Summers in Sag Harbor or hitting the slopes in Park City, our team retreats are a blast and give us time to reflect and brainstorm with one another.

How to Get Hired

We asked Button for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We have a set of core values and principles that we look for across all new candidates, including entrepreneurship, speaking boldly and honestly, and growing individually & organizationally. We look for individuals that embody these core values: delivering excellence, providing omotenashi, growth, entreprenurship, speaking boldly and honestly, problem solvers, demonstration of true grit, and have a breadth & depth of knowledge across one or more areas. We also look for curiosity, enthusiasm, and passion for their work.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

In a very crowded, yet competitve space, we look for candidates that are passionate, driven, and demonstrate excellence in their field. Prospective employees can get our attention by showing us where and how they have demonstrated these characteristics, whether that's in a past speaking opportunity, event they hosted, project they manged - we want candidates to show us what they love to do.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

Button is on a misison to build the best team in the world and we are looking for talented technologists, leaders, and entreprenuers with functional expertise and a love of mobile to join our team. In the next year our focus will be on scaling our team across all fronts, especially within our engineering and product teams.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?

We always advise candiates to get in touch or come to one of Button's many hosted events: Button Connect Happy Hours - a monthly gathering of great minds in tech on the Button rooftop, annual PRIDE party, Women who Code parties, you name it! Information about the products, culture, and team we're building is on our website. If a candiate feels passionate about changing mobile commerce, and we don't have an opening that is pefectly aligned with their background, we encourage them to email us directly at
