What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
At BlueGranite, we seek to identify candidates with the right attitude and aptitude to become contributing members of our team, and provide them with the right framework and support to succeed!
In addition to technical skill with our key tools and sharp business acumen, success comes from self-managed, motivated, and curious consultants who are passionate about data and analytics.
In a distributed organization like BlueGranite, our team members need to be excellent communicators across a range of mediums. We interact with each other and our clients through documents, email, IM, voice calls, video calls and web meetings, in addition to face to face. Successful candidates can demonstrate their professional demeanor and convey competence and confidence, and we look at these types of details during the interview process.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
We look for candidates who demonstrate more than technical skill - it's the aptitude (and attitude!) that get our attention. Showcasing a history of motivated, self-directed learning or exploration, combined with doing the right amount of research to be informed and knowledgeable and having thoughtful and prepared stories and questions to share during the interview process highlights some of the skill that helps a consultant always have a great impression with clients.
Additionally, we look for people who show passion for data and analytics, and honestly this is hard to fake. During our recruitment and interview process, we look for signs of excitement and passion for the technology and the types of projects and clients that we work with.
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
While we are always looking for seasoned veterans to add to our team, we are especially excited to bring on new team members who can leverage their aptitude to learn from the tremendous team we already have. Our team is stacked with expertise and talent, and we believe there is a tremendous opportunity for young professionals looking to learn from the best and ready to take on responsibility and prove they have what it takes to succeed.
We have many opportunities for folks ready to take on leadership and responsibility, while providing the mentorship and guidance necessary to make the most of those opportunities. Specifically, people who have been working for a couple years in database or reporting positions, but have not had the opportunity to perform up to their capabilities for organizational or other reasons, are encouraged to apply for our Staff and Solution Consultant roles.
