Today, Great Place to Work® announced their 3rd annual We ♥ Our Workplace video contest, sponsored by NetApp. The contest invites companies to showcase what makes them great workplaces. In 2013, participants submitted nearly 500 minutes of employee testimonials, music videos and parodies that demonstrated employees’ pride in their workplace, along with their creativity and camaraderie.
Watching these videos is an inspiring way to see how Best Companies really live out their mission and values. Many of last year’s finalists have Reviews here on Great Rated! – check out their videos below and find out why their employees love their workplace!
Cirrus Logic, a semiconductor company based in Austin, Texas, took the top prize last year, with their fun video that shows off why their employees love their job. The company won $5,000 for their charity of choice, the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.
The music-loving company hosts monthly rock concerts and employees also enjoy birthday celebrations, summer picnics, holiday parties for adults and kids, guitar lessons, photography courses and pie bake-offs. Says one employee, “The company does more than I've ever seen in terms of employee events and appreciation … [they] really stress the importance of getting employees together both during and outside of work hours to show appreciation and create strong bonds with co-workers.”
Employees at this apartment management firm love the company’s fun spirit. As you can see in their video, Camden loves to hug – with one employee explaining, "At company functions, you can always expect a hug fest."
From flash mobs, to baking contests, to management conference skits (where the CEO regularly appears in costume), employees at every level of this organization get in on the action, and nearly everyone (95 percent) says the company is a fun place to work.

Lincoln’s employees strongly endorse their respectful and caring work environment, as well as their suite of benefits. In addition to organized events such as tailgate parties and paper airplane flying contests for employees’ children, people also enjoy more spontaneous fun, such as redecorating vacationing bosses’ offices with Justin Bieber posters. Pranks aside, employees also regularly help each other in times of need, including everything from raising funds to send an employee’s daughter to an international soccer tournament to establishing a scholarship fund for the children of a colleague who died.
