  • Bonus Incentive Programs: Blick has bonus programs tailored to its many unique associate groups. The incentive program for hourly distribution center associates is based on productivity, safety, and quality control. In our retail stores the incentive program is based on customer satisfaction, sales, and shrinkage. In our offices the incentive programs are customized by department and by individual to encourage creative thinking and energy.  Bonuses can range from 5% to 15% above base pay.
  • Employee Wellness Program: Blick provides support for the associate's wellness. These programs include health club or YMCA memberships, yoga classes, kick boxing classes, nutritional and weight loss management programs and smoking cessation programs. The company also has an annual health screening program for all employees. Wellness screenings provide documented blood tests, blood pressure test, and other information that is shared directly with the associate's primary care physician.
  • Associate Merchandise Discount Program: Up to 40% off retail price on Blick and Utrecht branded products, up to 30% off retail price of other in stock items.
  • Associate's Thanksgiving Dinner: In our Galesburg and Monroe Twp. facilities for every shift in every building Thanksgiving dinner is served during the week of Thanksgiving. Dinner includes: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, rolls, and pies for dessert. This a catered meal served during working hours.
  • Employee Appreciation Program: Blick organizes employee outings and events during the year that include picnics and bar-b-ques; outdoor concert events; shopping excursions, golf outings, casino outings, dinner theatres, and other trips depending on the employee's work location. These team building experiences are paid by the company. Many include associate's significant other and kids.
  • Employee Profit-Sharing Program: 100% immediate vesting subject to a 60 day introductory period.
  • Transportation Stipend and Benefits: For Associates in the Highland Park office, there is paid covered parking in the building, or the equivalent amount of money on Ventra to be used for Metra commuter trains or CTA. Blick associates traveling on company business are permitted to earn and retain miles, points, nights in their personal account from the various frequent travel programs.
  • Annual Holiday Parties: Each Blick location holds a gala holiday party. At these events Employee Recognition Awards are presented for each 5 years of service with the company. The Blick Galesburg Holiday party has over 700 attendees. In Highland Park, depending on the location of the event, transportation and overnight accommodations are offered to insure a safe and festive occasion.
  • Annual Holiday Gift For All Retail Associates: Each retail associate receives a gift from the company at holiday time. Because of the geographic diversity of our store locations, and the diversity of our associates being artists, students, and creative beings, we have found that a recognition of their hard work during the past year is well received and well used.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

Blick Art Materials is always interested in meeting new, interesting, and exciting people. Our retail stores have turnover due to the graduation of our part-time student employees, so we focus on those positions throughout the year. We have expanded our distribution center in Monroe Township, New Jersey, and will be hiring new employees in that facility. We continue to expand our Information Technology and Information Systems teams as the company continues to grow.
