  • Team Lunches: We often gather for Black Marjieh team lunches. Paid for by the firm, we rotate through the local options. Brick oven pizza from down the street is a recent staff favorite. This can be once a week or nearly every day. Our culture is casual and spontaneous. It doesn't require much planning other than a phoned-in food order and a firm-wide email to meet in the lunch/break/brainstorming room at noon.
  • Gym Membership: Every employee has free access to the Black Marjieh gym membership. The gym is nearby and the team has been enthusiastic about making the most of it. It's inspired some friendly competition, but mostly, it's just an easy way to get moving and active every day.
  • Free Food and Drinks - All Day. Every day: Our social space is stocked with free food and drinks all day. We have many options for healthy and tasty snacks. A Black Marjieh favorite is our seltzer machine, which includes a vast array of flavor options and inspires much experimentation.
  • Black Marjieh Volleyball Team: The firm takes part in our Black Marjieh volleyball team. We play weekly together with other local businesses. We're sometimes great, sometimes so so, but we always have fun together. Next up: softball season!
  • Karaoke and Happy Hour Fridays: The whole firm gathers for in-office karaoke send-offs every Friday, which can lead to spontaneous happy hours. It's a great way to end the work week together. 
  • HQ Trivia Time: We take a full Black Marjieh time-out every day at 3 pm to try our skills at HQ Trivia together. We've even won three times, for a grand total of $17.97!
  • Team Volunteering: We recently launched our charitable engagement program, starting with a Black Marjieh volunteer afternoon at the Food Bank for Westchester on a Friday afternoon. We believe in giving back to the community and our team is looking forward to more fun and meaningful events to come.
  • Bring your Dog to Work: We have an open policy for bringing your dog to work. We've had a couple canine guests so far. It's been great for adding a homey and fun atmosphere to the office.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We look for team players first and foremost, along with a creative and flexible outlook. Candidates should be interested in joining a growing, supportive and enthusiastic team that achieves success together. Karaoke, volleyball and softball skills are also considered. Of course there are specific qualifications and experience needed for each position, but cultural fit is a key component.    

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Our first look at you will be through your resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile, so use those vehicles to wow us with your skills, experience, accomplishments, work ethic and written skills. When we meet, try to be yourself so we can find out who you are as a person. That's your chance to show us the side of yourself that doesn't come through on paper. Interviews can be intimidating, but we are not. Let's talk.
