We asked BambooHR for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.
What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
One interesting commonality in candidates our hiring managers love is someone who started working at a young age—everything from flipping burgers to mowing lawns to washing windows through his or her teen years. These candidates often have a strong work ethic and appreciate the outcomes of great, high-quality work. We look for candidates who share our company values. We love people who take the initiative to develop themselves and who are naturally driven to be better every day. We hire people who adapt well to change—which happens often in a company growing so quickly. Finally, we hire people who are genuine and authentic.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
Getting good attention from us is pretty simple: be genuine in your resume and make sure it accurately reflects your skills and how you’ve used those skills in context. Then trust that we will recognize those skills. We read every single resume. (So, don’t worry about making it too flashy—we’ll look either way.)
Also, pay close attention to your personal brand. We’re extremely careful about our brand and appreciate employees who are very deliberate in their personal brand as well. The brand we portray externally (thoughtful, high quality, genuine), is also what we want internally.
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
We will be hiring for every single department this year. We’re growing incredibly fast (but at a deliberate, strategic pace) and are constantly looking for people who can help us. We don’t put a cap on awesomeness, so even if you don’t see the specific role you’re looking for, send us your resume anyway. (Chances are, we’ll be hiring for your role soon. Sometimes we even create roles specifically for people with incredible talent.)
