Our downtown Nashville office was designed to encourage collaboration. Leaders here have an “open door” policy, meaning they don’t sit in offices, but sit in open space cubes, just like all employees.

We asked Asurion to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Recognition is part of our culture: It’s always nice to say thank you but saying thanks with points that can be used for airfare is even better. Did a colleague go above and beyond? Did a team roll out an amazing new initiative before deadline? Thank them with ACE points! Our award-winning recognition program includes a social newsfeed to celebrate achievements by saying thanks with points that can be redeemed for gift cards, travel, or merchandise. We aren’t talking small change, either. In 2018, more than $1.1 million worth of points were awarded across Asurion.
  • Extending support into our communities: We want to foster the spirit of volunteerism among our employees. Many teams volunteer to give back, from building Habitat for Humanity houses to adopting parks for cleanup. We also organize weekly employee-led tutoring sessions and school events in partnership with Teach for America and KIPP Academy. This year, hundreds of Asurion team members from across the country celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as a day of service by volunteering in their local communities.
  • The fund for employees, by employees: The Compassion Forward Employee Fund enables employees to help each other when life gets complicated. The fund is designed to meet critical needs fast. Every penny donated by employees goes directly to helping fellow employees get back on their feet financially when unforeseen events strike. Employees raised more than $380,000 in immediate financial relief to assist our employees in the wake of three hurricanes last fall, and year-to-date Asurion has given $423,000 in grants to 234 employees.
  • Culture champions: Asurion employs a team of people service coordinators (a.k.a "Culture Champions"), full-time employees who are dedicated to motivating and celebrating their colleagues. By organizing events and being present in the everyday, PSCs are keeping a pulse on Asurion employees’ happiness. No birthday, work anniversary, or accomplishment goes unnoticed with PSCs at the helm. They are a testament to the value Asurion places on every employee’s satisfaction.
  • Take time for you: We empower team members to manage their work-life balance with a flexible approach to time in the office and days off. Asurion employees choose when to work offsite (from home or even the corner coffee shop) and decide when they should be in the office for collaboration. Bottom line: We value good work, not how many hours you spend strapped to your desk. As far as time off goes, Asurion has a “no policy” time-off program, meaning that exempt employees are not limited in paid time off and simply work with their leader for time out of the office.
  • Good ideas from everyone: We know that good ideas come from everywhere, not just the corner office. That’s why we host hackathons, where employees collaborate to come up with innovative ideas to improve our customer and employee experience. The winning concepts are often set into motion and turned into reality, and the top teams are awarded cash prizes and tech devices.
  • Helping our people grow: Our people are our greatest assets, and we put them in the driver’s seat to advance their professional development. We provide tools to drive career growth, including job shadowing programs, tuition assistance, career coaching, and endless options to learn and grow. Take our PopUp schools, for instance. These live and in-person sessions go “on location” to various Asurion offices and teach practical leadership skills that can be used immediately, regardless of your role or career level.
  • A commUnity for all: Our diversity and inclusion initiative, commUnity, is committed to ensuring that all employees feel valued and have a genuine opportunity to thrive and excel at Asurion. At the heart of commUnity are our employee resource groups, which bring Asurion employees together for networking, mentorship, problem-solving, and volunteerism. 
  • Living your best life: We want to help our team members live their best lives. Our wellbeing program goes a step beyond most and offers free access to personal health AND financial coaches. Our programs include everything from providing private financial guidance around major life events—like buying a home or preparing for retirement—to serving up a dose of healthy choices competitions. A robust wellbeing employee community rounds off the program, providing encouragement and tips for healthy living.
  • Bundles of joy, not stress: Asurion families rest easy during pregnancy with the help of our maternity concierge program, led by HR advisers who guide expecting parents by creating custom resources tailored to the family’s exact healthcare benefits. Asurion’s healthy pregnancy program gives expecting moms around-the-clock access to nurses and education resources as they prepare for their new arrival. After delivery, new moms can enjoy up to 84 days of paid time off, and dads get 14 days of paid paternity leave. Employees who grow their family through adoption can get up to $10,000 in adoption assistance and four weeks of paid leave.
