How to Get Hired
We asked ARM for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.
What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
Every potential new hire should embody our core beliefs so that they will be successful and add to the collective success of the ARM partnership. Our core beliefs represent the essence of ARM, and what makes our business unique. Our core beliefs are ‘We, Not I’, ‘Passion for Progress’ and ‘Be Your Brilliant Self’ and they guide how we behave every day of the week – whether it’s in an internal meeting, a customer negotiation, dealing with the press or working with our ecosystem or suppliers. The ARM behaviours underpin the core beliefs and detail how we expect our teams to behave.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
Dabble with electronics in your spare time if you’re early in your career, or do things like contribute to open source. Engaging with the industry outside of working hours is a great indication of passion and aligns with our behavior ‘passion for progression’. This could include attending conferences etc. In our Research team, we look for researchers who publish papers and file for patents. We also have a strong employee referral program (Connected Talent) at ARM and prospective candidates may wish to reach out to their network to hear more about our culture, roles and the recruitment process. Candidates can also follow us on social media, and engage with us there!
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
We're always looking to hire more software professionals. Most people think of ARM as a pure hardware company, when in fact, we're about 50% hardware and 50% software, so we can always use more software engineers/developers! The software that is created has the potential to impact billions, as our partners shipped over 15 billion ARM-based chips in 2015.
What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?
Take a look on our social media or online channels (Twitter, Glassdoor, ARM connected community) and talk with us if you see us at events! The more you know about who ARM is as a company, the better prepared you can be when conversing with us in an interview, and the type of people we're looking for.
