What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
When we search for a new employee, how they do their job is just as important as what they’ve done. Teamwork - we look for employees who are able to work with a variety of people and put group accomplishments ahead of personal gain - we seek those in it for the larger good. Communicating - candidates must be able to listen and talk with others and be able to modify their message to suit their audience. Delivering Results - we look for individuals who are able to work under deadlines. Improvement & Innovation - candidates who believe in a culture of continuous improvement are attractive to us. Thinking commercially - we look for candidates who can see ATC’s business priorities. Self-Management - employees must be able to fully contribute on their own.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
A prospective candidate can get our attention by first being themselves. Networking with us at career fairs, community events and conferences are great next steps. Since 29 percent of our hires last year were from referrals, this is a great way to get noticed by HR and the hiring manager. In addition, candidates should follow ATC on LinkedIn and connect with our talent acquisition team to discuss new positions and future opportunities.
Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?
In the coming year, we are focused on hiring electrical and civil engineers. Candidates with previous power experience are especially desired. Compliance is also a focus for us with changes and updates in our regulatory environment. Our information technology department is also growing and we are looking to add staff in many disciplines including systems engineering, systems support and cybersecurity.
