Perks and Programs

We asked Alacare Home Health and Hospice to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Alacare's Hospice & Home Health Fund of Alabama: Created by Alacare's founder to help patients using home health or hospice services who have monetary restrictions that may prohibit them from receiving care in their home, the Hospice & Home Health Fund of Alabama (HHHFA) has proven to be of great benefit to the Alacare staff. The "Fund" is primarily funded by donations from Alacare staff members, but also receives donations from patients and their families, as well as corporate donors. These funds can be requested by Alacare staff when they see a patient in need of financial assistance. Over $200,000.00 in grants were provided in 2017. The benefit of the HHHFA to our staff is beyond measure. Not only does it provide a means for our staff to identify and solve a real family emergency for our patients, but the feeling of making a difference beyond healthcare is what Alacare is all about.
  • Alacare Car Program: Alacare staff who visit patients can qualify for an Alacare Altima eliminating the need to use their personal car for business purposes. Alacare staff traveled a combined 8 million miles in 2017, so the Alacare Car Program is a much-appreciated benefits program for our staff.
  • Alacare 401k Program: Alacare's 401k Retirement Program matches 25% of the first 6% of employees contribution. For those who contribute at least 6% of their income to their 401(k), the match is .25 cents on the dollar. Up to 50% of income can be placed into their 401(k), up to the maximum limits imposed by the federal government, but the Alacare match only pertains to the first 6%.
  • Alacare Gold Star Customer Service: The Alacare Gold Star Customer Service Program recognizes staff who go above and beyond in providing excellent customer service to both patients and fellow staff members. By utilizing peers to submit nominations a wide variety of staff positions are nominated and recognized. Recognition includes a luncheon for all department/branch members of selected nominees, to company-wide awards dinners in an "Oscars" type presentation.
  • Team Alacare: Alacare staff members are encouraged to support local community events, such as charity walks, by entering as Team Alacare. Teams receive Team ALACARE T-shirts for the events and any funds raised are matched by the company. Staff finds this to build both friendships and support for their communities.
  • Alacare Clinical Ladder Program: The Alacare Clinical Ladder Program was developed as a way to recognize the dedication, expertise and professional growth of our clinical staff. The Alacare Clinical Ladder includes Case Manager I and II for Home Health and for Hospice, as well as Wound Therapy Associate (WTA), Certified Hospice Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN), Certified Wound and Ostomy Care Nurse (CWOCN) and Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN). The program provides education to advance the careers of these Alacare Clinicians.
