  • Incentive Trip: If we hit our goal, we take a company trip to Mexico. The all-expense paid trip is the founders’ way of thanking us for our hard work and dedication, and our spouses for their unending support. But we only get to go if we make our goal each year, which truly lives up to our unofficial company motto, “Work hard, play hard."
  • Rock Star: Each month, employees have the opportunity to nominate someone from their department who is deserving of the "Rock Star of the Month" title. From the department of rock stars, an overall AE Rock Star of the Month is named. The designation comes with some pomp and circumstance, not to mention a couple of cool prizes!
  • AE Lunch Bunch: Employees are randomly selected to attend these cross-departmental lunches, which offers employees the opportunity to get to know their co-workers on a more personal level and ask questions about the business directly to the founders or a member of the leadership team.
  • Birthday PTO: All full-time employees may enjoy their birthday off, on AE!
  • AE Cafe: In addition to its daily staples of soups, sandwiches, paninis and a salad bar, the AE Cafe serves up a variety of delicious hot meals that very each weekday - think burrito bowls, a baked potato bar, chicken fingers and, of course, pizza Fridays. We want to be convenient without putting a drain on the wallet, so that's why Advisors Excel subsidizes 50 percent of each item purchased from the AE Cafe.
  • Libraries @ Work: Over 400,000 books, movies and other items from the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library are available for employees to check out - without ever having to leave work!
  • Training Tutorials: Access to hundreds of video tutorials on dozens of great professional and personal development topics - from management skills to Adobe Photoshop training - with a membership to Lynda.com.
  • AE Fitness Center: Tucked away in the back of the building is a full gym that is equipped with exercise machines, a punching bag and a TV with workout DVDs.
  • Charitable Events & Activities: We are committed to making our community a better place. We not only raise money for various organizations in and out of Top;eka, we put in some manpower at many volunteer events as well. The opportunities to spread the love are endless at AE!
  • AE Fun Committee: We take fun pretty seriously around here, so that's why we have an official Fun Committee (FUNC) comprised of employees dedicated to organizing fun events for AE staff and their families. These seasonal events include holiday parties especially for kids, employee appreciation events, sports tournaments and much, much more. Intramural sports include teaming up with fellow employees at a softball, volleyball or touch football tournament. We've got the kiddos covered with everything from Easter Egg hunts to visits with Santa. In-office employee only events include competitions such as the AE-mazing race to bolster good ol' fashion comradery - and some pretty hilarious pictures! How to Get Hired

We asked Advisors Excel for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

We're looking for hard-working, dedicated employees to provide outstanding service to our advisors all across the country.  Culture fit is a big deal and we want individuals who are all pulling in the same direction and always trying and do the right thing. Those who will admit their mistakes when they make them and do whatever it takes to make it right.  Beyond that, we want people who are great teammates, who are the type of person you want to work with on a daily basis and are willing to jump in and help out others when needed in order to provide the Ultimate Client Experience.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

Let their individuality shine through. Tell us the story that isn’t told on their resume. During interview process, we need to get a feel for how they will fit with the team and what motivates them on a daily basis.  There's no "I" in team and they need demonstrate to us that they want to be a part of the whole working with one goal in mind.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We employ what amounts to a full fledged ad agency in house.  Those roles are becoming more challenging to fill in our immediate and surrounding area based on our population size.  We will probably have the greatest need for numbers in our Wealth Management division as it's new and growing rapidly.  Additionally, we've spent a chunk of 2016 bringing IT services and development in house and that trend will continue.  From a candidate perspective we want to increase the diversity of our candidates; as a company we are participating along with other local business on a diversity and inclusion council, sharing ideas and best practices on the matter.  Practically, it's about finding new and different sources and actively recruiting versus taking what comes across the website.
