Perks and Programs

We asked ADS INC to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Values Awards: Every six months we recognize six employees who each represent one of our six values. Nominees are submitted by employees and senior leadership chooses the winners. Midyear 2017 we had 80 people nominated!! We were so excited to see such a high level of competition because it shows not only that we have so many amazing people, but that we are a culture that actively works to recognize one another. Winners gets their names on a plaque in the lobby and a big trophy to keep on their desk for 6 months.
  • Red Tickets: September is our busiest, craziest month. While our sales team is booking orders, our support team is catching all of the back-end. In order to celebrate our awesome support team, sales managers are provided red tickets to give out to support team members to recognize their hard work. Every Thursday during September, we gather in the lobby and draw 5-10 tickets. Winners get prizes that range from gift cards to days off to a chance at our annual Club Trip.
  • Super Awesome Parking: This is ADS's answer to "Employee of the Month" parking. Each month, two people get use of a special spot at the door to the building. At the end of the month, the spots get "paid forward" to another employee who is selected by the prior winner. Total peer-recognition!
  • Mission Give-Back: ADS supports multiple non-profit partners with our Mission Give-Back program. Employees and their families are invited to participate in activities throughout the year. Some events include: Habitat for Humanity Build Days, 5K Runs, Army 10-Miler, Marine Corps Marathon, USO Welcome Center, Tickets for Troops games, Holiday support for Boys & Girls Clubs.
  • Spark Talks: Lighting the Fire to INSPIRE! 5-10 a year ADS hosts a guest speaker in our own version of the TED Talks. Everyone is invited to attend these inspirational events that occur during work hours. Past speakers have included professional athletes, Generals, CEOs, and internal managers with topics spanning a wide spectrum of topics all intended to inspire and motivate growth beyond your day job.
  • Warrior Expo: Twice a year ADS invites thousands of customers and partner suppliers to participate in two massive ADS-hosted Trade Shows, one in San Diego and one in Virginia Beach. The whole company gets involved, from setup, to check-in, to onsite training and social time with our customers and partners.
  • Values Focus Groups: In an effort to constantly focus on a Culture of Excellence, every year we host a series of discussion groups to pulse employees, gather feedback, and make sure everyone is rowing in the same direction. Small group facilitated discussion topics have included "Living our Values", "Improving Accountability", "What's Our Purpose", and "Operational Efficiency". All departments and all levels are included.
  • Warehouse Cookout: This annual party brings together the whole company at our warehouses. We close for the afternoon to enjoy a cookout (this year we hosted & paid for food trucks), beer, lawn games including a life-size Hungry Hungry Hippo game, and a Dunk Tank. Employees make donations to Mission Give-Back in order to collect chances to dunk the manager of their choice!
  • Team Outings: Each manager is given an annual budget for team-building activities and free reign on how and when to use it. Among recent outings: skydiving, citywide scavenger hunts, winery tours, amusement parks, beach parties, escape rooms, and zip-lining.
  • Club Trip: Every February we take sales reps and managers who have hit their number on an all-expense-paid 4-day trip to a tropical location.

How to Get Hired

We asked ADS INC for some inside information on how to get hired at the organization. Here is what they had to say.

What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Key Characteristics for ADS:  Belief in our Purpose, Customer Focus, Drive, Emotional Intelligence, Adaptability, Intellectual Horsepower and a Battery-Charging Attitude.  We feel that if you have those things, you can conquer the world, and certainly be successful in ours.

What can prospective employees do to get your attention?

We love candidates who have both a government background (military or otherwise) and a commercial one.  We like to see the integration of those two experiences and find that people who are nimble in transition are very successful in our fast paced environment.  It helps to be able to speak the customer's language, but being able to translate between government-speak and the commercial world is extremely attractive.

Are there any positions or types of candidates you are particularly focused on hiring in this coming year?

We will always be on the lookout for strong sales & Business Development candidates.  In the coming year we will also be looking for candidates with Research & Development experience.

What should interested candidates do to find out more and get started?
