We asked Accenture to share a few programs they feel really capture what's unique about their workplace. Here is what they had to say.

  • Performance Achievement: In 2016, we embarked on a new approach to performance in our organization: Performance Achievement. We said good-bye to the annual performance review process that had been in place for many years, which involved countless hours of our supervisors and career counselors looking back on the year rather than looking forward to a person’s strengths and career goals. With this new model, our people will be better equipped to understand and capitalize on their strengths and priorities, grow their skills and capabilities, and participate in meaningful feedback discussions and coaching in real time, while being recognized and celebrated for their achievements.
  • Accenture Active: Healthy people enjoy work/life balance and thrive professionally and personally. Knowing this, we asked our people what they wanted in a health and wellness program, and what would best integrate with their lifestyle. We listened and launched Accenture Active in 2016. It features easy-to-use apps and integrated technology, including wearable devices that track activity or food intake. The program allows participants (65%+ of our people) and teams to challenge themselves—earning rewards in the process—and participate in yearly biometric screenings that translate to reduced insurance premiums. About 1,700 people celebrated our first Accenture Active Day through in-person events and live webcasts that featured health/wellness speakers, group workouts, healthy meals and other innovative programs that make taking care of health achievable, fun and rewarding.
  • Caregiver Benefits: We offer many programs that help parents and caregivers thrive personally and professionally. In addition to our recently expanded paid parental leave benefits that doubled maternity leave to 16 weeks and increased primary caregiver leave to eight weeks, a new program gives caregivers the ability to work locally for up to one year upon return from parental leave, while also offering free breast milk shipping to mothers who wish to keep travelling. Other benefits include: 80 hours of dependent care (children/elders) with an additional 40 for those within child’s first year, rent/purchase of hospital-grade breast pumps, adoption/surrogacy assistance, au pair assistance, lactation rooms and a special needs program. We offer resources for our people to discuss and learn more about parenting and elder care.
  • Commitment to Inclusion & Diversity: We were the first in our industry to publish the demographics of our US workforce for gender, ethnicity, persons with disabilities and veterans. Going forward, we will report annually on our progress across these areas of diversity. We aspire to be the most inclusive and diverse company--we believe that diversity makes our company stronger, smarter and more innovative, which helps us better serve the needs of our clients and our communities. 
  • Commitment to Gender Equality: Gender equality is an essential element of an inclusive workplace, says Chairman & CEO Pierre Nanterme  “At Accenture, our commitment to inclusion and diversity starts at the top, and we empower all of our people – including our more than 140,000 women – to lead. This commitment extends to pay, and we strive to ensure that all our people – women and men – are compensated fairly and equitably from the moment we hire them through the milestones of their careers here.” In 2016, Accenture signed the White House Council on Women and Girls Equal Pay Pledge.   • Being Greater Than: Since debuting our Being Greater Than campaign in 2015, we have published more than 100 inspirational stories of women achieving their dreams. In 2016, we teamed with women directors at MOFILM, a global community of filmmakers, to showcase stories of women across the globe breaking barriers. The campaign underscores our commitment to gender equality, including pay equality, and connecting our more than 140,000 women. The two-minute videos bring to life our inclusive and diverse culture; our efforts to ensure our people can succeed personally and professionally, and the impact our people are having by giving back to their communities.
  • Corporate Citizenship: Our people are passionate about improving the way the world works and lives for our clients, our people and our communities through their leadership, knowledge and skills. With our core values at the heart of our efforts, we collaborate with a range of partners to deliver long-lasting, measurable solutions. Areas of focus include our Skills to Succeed initiative, which equips people around the world with the skills to find a job or build a business; our commitment to reducing environmental impacts—including carbon, waste and water—from our offices and operations to fostering sustainable growth with all our stakeholders; and our inclusion and diversity efforts across ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age and disability, which are key to innovation and high performance.
  • Reinventing Training: With a focus on digital, we reinvented our approach to learning, enabling our people to unleash ideas, drive innovation and develop the highly specialized skills needed to serve our clients and communities. In fiscal 2015, we invested $841 million (averaging 46 hours/person) in training and development.   • Employee Resource Groups: Our culture of inclusion and diversity is fostered by Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)-– vibrant communities that enable our people to strengthen their networks, grow their skills, celebrate their heritages and give back to the communities where they live and work. We have 10 US employee resource groups with 250+ local chapters. ERGs offer a vital avenue for our people to get involved, affect decisions and offer insight into how Accenture can improve overall. They focus on the needs of each group’s constituency through sponsorship of networking events, career development workshops, mentoring opportunities, and recruiting, client and community service activities. What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?

Leadership, curiosity and authenticity.  We are asked to solve our client’s most difficult problems—they expect our people to be leaders at every level, because they need our leadership in driving change.  Curiosity is critical because the pace of change in technology and in the industries we serve is staggering. Our clients need us to be ahead of the change, which means we need people who love change and have the curiosity to be continuously learning so we can help our clients.  Finally, at the end of the day, people want to work with people who are authentic. We have amazing people at Accenture—from all backgrounds and cultures and with a wide range of experiences—and we believe what makes us so special is both this diversity and the authenticity of our people.
