What key characteristics tell you a prospective employee will be a great fit for your company?
Intelligence, work ethic, passion for their craft and the industry, curiosity, competitiveness, non-complacency, creativity, willingness to try new things and fail.
What can prospective employees do to get your attention?
The best way prospective employees can get our attention is through their accomplishments. Rather than focusing solely on diplomas, we look at what potential employees have done to improve companies they've built or have worked for in the past.
The top attributes we look for are the desire and the ability to learn. On paper, learning seems easy, but we look for people who, when presented with new and unfamiliar challenges, aren't afraid to invent and test new solutions. Second we try to find people with an internal locus of control, or someone who believes they're in control of outcomes as opposed to blaming outside forces for shortcomings. Finally, we look for people who are intrinsically motivated to do what they love.
Those three qualities are a knock-out combination every time. Someone with those characteristics are bound to have accomplished something great prior to an interview.
